Smooth & Fruity

Our house Claret. Can't get better value than this for a properly made organically farmed Bordeaux red wine from the Cotes du Blaye - a good option for a right bank red that won't break the bank.

In the glass

Warm ruby red colour with a ripe red berry and truffle nose. Round, well-balanced and full of cherry, ripe berries, truffles and a hint of smoke. Long, smooth, harmonious finish.

"Always have a bottle in the house. Far better than anything comparable at this price."

"Delicious and not too heavy."

The grapes are grown on the banks of the Gironde Estuary, opposite Saint Estephe and Pauillac. The family have been making wine for over a century and use traditional, low intervention methods to achieve this timeless classic. Hand harvests with de-stemming, cold pre-fermentation maceration and no oak.

About the vineyard

Tony Martin took over the family vineyard around 5 years ago. although still works with his parents in developing this small, sustainable HVE certified Bordeaux terroir that has been in their family since the 1970s. The Chateau La Croix du Grand Jard is their signature Claret and highly recommended for a fruit forward bordeaux at an excellent price.
