Santenay 1er Cru AOC Gravières 2008, Paul Chapelle & ses Filles

Pinot Noir
Soft & Elegant

Fine Burgundy

Paul Chapelle & Filles are well known in Montagny les Beaune for their exceptional work on the vines. Hard to find a vintage 2008, normally reserved for the high end restaurant trade. A sommelier favourite that we are lucky to have on allocation. Grapes grown on 60 year old south facing vines that produce small yields. All the work on the vines is carried out manually. Grapes are carefully selected and reselected on the sorting table. Traditional vinification methods including the use of indigenous yeasts. Clarification with only one racking and no filtration. Aged for 18 - 24 months in oak (only 10-15% new oak), then aged further in the cellar before being released.

Dark, brilliant cherry colour, with an abundance of rose petals, violets, red fruits and a hint of liquorice on the nose. Elegant and pure palate with beautifully complex berries and a light mineral touch. Bilberry notes on the long, layered finish.
