Impossible to find, this extraordinary vintage from the legendary winemaker and scientist Dr John Possingham who owned and managed the vineyard from 1984 and retired in 2018. An expert in viticulture, he also headed the CSIRO’s program of horticulture research for 30 years. We have a few cases left of this wonderful 2010 vintage that is an absolute treat for lovers of rich, full-bodied red wines. Only 15000 bottles were produced from very low yields from 60 year old vines. Organic farming with drip irrigation and single wire trellises with careful leaf management. Grapes hand harvested at night to retain freshness then selected on sorting tables. Temperature controlled fermentation then aged in a mixture of old and new French oak before ageing further in the bottle. A wine lover’s delight.
In the glass
Deep inky colour with violet hues. Blackberries, anise, nutmeg and cedar on the nose with complex layers of plums and black cherries on the palate. Sweet spic and chocolate/mocha overtones. Lovely velvety tannins a rich, elegant finish. A one off.
