Muscadet Sèvre & Maine AOC Schistes de Goulaine 2014 Domaine R de la Grange

Loire Valley
Melon de Bourgogne
Intense & Aromatic

Exceptional vintage Muscadet from one of the region's finest growers. Still got 5-10 years aging potential making it a good investment for laying down.

Gold Medal Concours des Vins de Nantes, Prix Excellence des Oenologues de France, Gault et Millau Best Muscadet special selection

"Superb example of the aging potential of Muscadet - still fruity and delicious".

"Bought another case for the cellar!"

One of the oldest family vineyards in the Muscadet appellation and one of the very best. Raphael Luneau uses traditional methods, hand harvests grapes grown on 75 year old vines at full ripeness and selects only the best for vinification. Slow fermentation in underground vats and aged on the lees. ‘Sur lie’.

In the glass

Yellow gold colour, expressive, iodised, quince and ginger nose with a fresh attack and a complex mix of dried and candied fruit on the palate. Long finish with hints of spice and honey alongside superb minerality and good expression of the terroir.

Pair with lobster, crab, shellfish stews or rich mushroom dishes - particularly good with morels and full flavoured foods.

About the vineyard

Father and son Remy and Raphael Luneau are old friends and produce wines that are absolute stand outs across the board in their tiny Loire vineyard. The vines literally start outside their backdoor and they work relentlessly to ensure the grapes, the soil and the land are in perfect condition. Highly recommended Wine at Home special.
