Axelle Machard de Gramont is a 5th generation wine grower and rising star. All wines on allocation only. Hard to find, particularly as 2015 was a much-lauded vintage in Burgundy, and arguably the best in 70 years. Needless to say, the work on the vines is carried out by hand and grapes are harvested at optimum ripeness. Tiny parcels (plots) of very old vines, producing low yields, are used to make the wine with minimal human intervention other than leaf stripping and green harvest. Further selection and destalking of grapes on sorting tables so that only the best go on to vinification. Wine is aged in one year old French oak barrels for 10 - 14 months and bottled without filtration after racking.
