Classic South African red wine from Hugo & Celeste Truter at their family vineyard. Pinotage started life as a cross between Pinot Noir and Cinsault and does exceptionally well on the mountain slopes where it enjoys granite and sandstone soils with a high clay content, good acidity and good water retention. Not to mention a lot of sunshine! Grapes are de-stemmend and fermented over 8 days before being pressed and matured in a mix of French and American oak.
The Truter family are an absolute joy to work with. They run their vineyard on the granite and sandstone soils of the Wellington's mountain slopes with absolute commitment to conservation cultivation.
