Bourgogne Chardonnay AOC Alphonse 2020, Vignerons de Terres Secretes
We are all over this Chardonnay right now - made by a group of very small growers - each farming only one plot - and combining the very best grapes to make a wine of intensity, freshness and style. A White Burgundy without the price tag.
"Really juicy and fresh. Like a Macon with plenty of flavour."
"We really enjoyed this wine - thanks for including in our last box."
Made just south of the Maconnais, between the plains and hills, the Chardonnay grapes are grown in specific plots that allow for maximum sunshine and light. The Vignerons de Terres Secretes boast the only wine cellar on this site for over 100 years - and we are glad to have found it! The wine is produced using very low pressure and long slow pressing to preserve all the flavour of the grape. No oak.
The vineyard is the first in burgundy to produce its own electricity from solar panels, made locally. They are committed to sustainability in every part of production - including reducing the weight of the bottles and committing to the VDD Sustainable Winegrowing Association.
Pale gold, bright and clear with a lovely floral, fruity, citrus nose. Exotic fruit palate with plenty of body and freshness. Creamy with good mineralogy.
