How it's made
Fabre Montmayou pioneered the making of single varietal wine from Malbec grapes and this 'Gran' Cuvee is made from a selection of the very best grapes from the smaller yields of older vines. The grapes are transported in small trays to avoid damage before being hand selected for fermentation. Natural yeasts are used with a 30 day maceration period. The wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels.
In the glass
Deep ruby colour with a light purple rim. Black pepper, nutmeg, paprika, vanilla and blackcurrants vie for attention on the nose and continue on to the palate with the addition of morello cherry, liquorice and spice. Elegant finish with smooth tannins.
Fabre Montmayou vineyard is nestled in the heart of Argentina's most prestigious wine growing region in the hills of Mendoza. They have won countless awards for their exceptional wines, and winemaker Herve Fabre was awarded the coveted Winemaking Legend Medal of Excellence in 2021 by Tim Atkin.
