Gevrey-Chambertin is one of the villages of Burgundy's famous Cote de Nuits. The wines from this area are known for their firm rich structure, velvety tannins and delicate texture. In the hands of Jacques Marchand and son Etienne, this 1er Cru exceeds expectations and will take in further dimensions over the coming 8-12 years.

In the glass

Bright ruby colour with notes of black cherry and liquorice with hints of spice. Soft tannins, delicate wild red berry aromas and subtle hints of nutmeg and cinnamon. The wine has a long, silky, complex finish and plenty of cellar life.

Jacques Marchand, his daughter Marion and son Etienne are fifth and sixth generation winemakers in the village of Gevrey, in the heart of the Cote de Nuits in Burgundy. No chemicals are used in the traditional viticulture practised by the family. Every grape that goes into this wine is hand selected before going through a cold maceration for 8 days before fermentation. This helps ensure that all the flavour, structure and elegance of the grape is maintained throughout the process. Only natural yeasts are used and the wine spends 20 days in the vats before aging for 16 months in half new oak and half 2-year old oak barrels.
