Loire red wines are rightly hitting the headlines these days and this is one of our absolute favourites - from one of our favourite family growers. Superb expression of the Cabernet Franc grape and exceptionally well made from 110 year old vines. Read our blog for more on old vines.

Laurent Jamet is the fourth generation to farm along the banks of the Loire - and this small parcel of very old vines (110 years) is vinified in honour of our old friends, the de Bruyns - who worked these plots for generations. Grass is grown between the vines which are debudded manually before harvesting. The wine is aged for a year in temperature controlled vats before bottling. No oak.

Superb expression of the Loire 'terroir' and the home of the Cabernet Franc. Intense concentration of red summer fruit with a hint of pepper. Good structure with lots of red berry fruit flavours and hints of fennel and spice. Good length and fruity finish.

About the vineyard

The Jamet family has been farming their land on the right bank of the Loire, near Saumur, for four generations. This was one of the first wines we imported into the UK over 20 years ago and the Jamet family represent everything that we love about this business. The old alluvial sand so familiar in the area are worked with enormous attention to detail using traditional methods with the least possible human intervention and sustainable viticulture with organic products.
